Two friends say suspect admitted killing OSU student
The two women who considered themselves closest to Brian Golsby wanted the truth.
At least 14 times after Golsby was arrested for the kidnapping, robbery, rape and murder of Ohio State University senior Reagan Tokes in February, 2017, they visited him in the Franklin County jail.
Jennifer Nickell, who is the mother of Golsby’s 6-year-old daughter, spoke to him by phone through a plate-glass window. He repeatedly blamed T.J., a longtime friend, whom prosecutors say is fictional.
Then, a few months later, “I asked him if he did it (rape Tokes) ... I needed an honest answer,” said Nickell. “He shook his head (yes). I started to cry. ... I asked him if he killed her. He said yes. I dropped the phone” and left.
She later gave police a handwritten statement about that conversation.
