Columbus police have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting shot last month during a robbery.

Traquan Workman of North Linden is accused of shooting and killing 46-year-old Donavan Clemens on Feb. 5 in the 1900 block of South Hamilton Avenue in South Linden. Clemens was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in critical condition. He died from his injuries on Feb. 8.

Clemens, who worked as a maintenance man, was found by a woman who called 911. He told her someone had stolen his pickup truck. Police say Workman also took Clemens’ wallet.

On the same date, Workman was found in Clemens’ stolen vehicle, and “he was in possession of live bullet with the same make and caliber bullet used to shoot Mr. Clemens,” according to court records.

Police recovered the same gun used in the homicide on Feb. 21, when they were investigating an accidental shooting, according to court records. Police learned Workman sold the gun to an acquaintance on Feb. 8.

On Feb. 28, a warrant was issued for Workman’s arrest. Workman was arrested for aggravated murder by Columbus police on March 9 at his Osceola Avenue home.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 19.
