Dead child, 4, was burned, emaciated
EUCLID — Authorities say an unresponsive, 4-year-old child pronounced dead at a suburban Cleveland hospital had burn marks and was emaciated and bruised.
WEWS-TV reports the child was taken Sunday afternoon from a Euclid apartment complex to a local hospital and was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities didn't immediately release further details about the child or how the injuries occurred. Fire officials say there was no fire at the apartment complex.
The death is under investigation. deputy coroner, who described the two gunshot wounds to Tokes’ head, one of which was from a pistol pressed to her temple and likely to have killed her instantly.
One young man in the audience dropped his head in his hands and began to cry.
Tests of Tokes’ fingernails did not have sufficient evidence to match to Golsby. Fingernails often are tested for evidence when a victim fights off an attacker.
Defense attorneys called no witnesses and presented just four pieces of evidence. They are effectively conceding his guilt in hopes of sparing his life in the death penalty phase of the trial which follows this week. Closing arguments are scheduled Tuesday.
Throughout Monday’s testimony Toby Tokes, Reagan’s father, exchanged glances with Golsby.
“I think it was probably a way to intimidate him a little,” Tokes said during a recess. “He looks scared. I think he realizes he’s in a lot of trouble.”
