Jackets take fifth straight, but Jones departs with injury

That winning streak the Blue Jackets desperatel­y needed arrived at the most opportune time, and better yet, continues to grow.

The Jackets’ fifth consecutiv­e triumph on Tuesday night, a 5-2 defeat of the same Canadiens that snapped their season-best six-game stretch on Nov. 27 in Montreal, ended with some cause for concern, however.

Defenseman Seth Jones, who scored on a power play in the first period and has potted the winning goal each of the past three games, left after the second period after aggravatin­g an upper-body injury and didn’t return. There was no update given after the game on the severity of his injury.

It was otherwise a joyous night for the Jackets, who swept their four-game homestand and stepped over the idle New Jersey
