many of his customers to move, so he relocated to the Ohio State University campus area.
He wasn’t actually in the tuxedo business until 1975, when he stumbled on a supply of formalwear at an auction house. It had been through a fire but was undamaged, other than needing to be cleaned. He bought it all for $180,000.
Romanoff moved his store Downtown to the corner of South 4th and State streets in 1978. He bought a small tavern at South 4th and East Rich streets, tore most of it down and built his current store in 1984. He added a second-story residence, where he has lived since 1984.
He’s selling the building and will move to Powell, near his daughter and grandchildren.
“‘I’m just tired,” he said. “Not of work per se because I like to keep busy, I like to do things, I like to do ceramics and painting. . . . But it’s time not to have to work six days a week.”
(Stone Temple Pilots): It might seem strange to have a 29-yearold band release a self-titled album (its second), but the CD marks a new start for the grunge-rock group — its first with vocalist Jeff Gutt. (Original lead singer Scott Weiland died in 2015.)
