4 hurt in crash of car, school bus
Four people were taken to hospitals after a crash Wednesday afternoon involving a Hilliard school bus and a car at HilliardRome and Roberts roads on the Far West Side, Columbus police said.
None of those injured suffered serious or lifethreatening injuries, police said.
The bus was carrying students from Heritage Middle School; none was injured, said Stacie Raterman, spokeswoman for the Hilliard school district.
Police said the bus driver and the driver of the car were taken to Mount Carmel West hospital. The female bus driver had a minor wrist injury and was awaiting X-ray results Wednesday evening, Raterman said. She did not immediately know the driver’s name.
Two children riding in the car were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital, police said. Their names and conditions, and the name of the driver, also were not available.
Students aboard the bus were checked by medics at the scene and were either picked up by parents or placed on another school bus, Raterman said.
“Everyone was OK,” she said. “Probably a little shaken up, though.”
The cause of the crash was under police investigation.
The first call was received by 911 dispatch at 2: 59 p. m., and police and fire paramedics were dispatched at 3: 04 p. m., according to a Columbus police dispatcher.
