Spring will bring snow

Spring arrives at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. The snow should arrive in central Ohio about 12 hours later.

Monday was quite a teaser, wasn’t it? Sunny, with a high of 61 — 9 degrees above the average high of 52.

But it’s not going to feel like spring beginning Tuesday night.

Rain will start around 5 a.m. Tuesday and continue much of the day, with an afternoon high of 42.

At 11 p.m. Tuesday, a lovely mix of rain, sleet and snow will begin.

After midnight, snow and sleet will arrive, totaling 2 to 3 inches early Wednesday, said Kristen Cassady, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wilmington. Winds are expected to be 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 8 p.m. Wednesday.

That will set up an interesting morning commute on Wednesday, when we’ll get another 1 to 2 inches of snow before noon. The high will be 36.

Through Monday, John Glenn Columbus International Airport had recorded 26.4 inches of snow this season, about 2 inches above average for this time of year, Cassady said.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly sunny with highs of 39 and 44, respectively.

Then more snow is expected on Saturday. Sheesh.
