NYCFC, Revolution battle to 2-2 draw

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Ismael Tajouri scored two goals and Sean Johnson had five saves to help New York City FC (3-0-1) play the New England Revolution (1-1-1) to a 2-2 draw Saturday.

The 23-year-old Tajouri, who has appeared in four MLS games, has three goals in the last two matches while filling in for the injured David Villa.

Yangel Herrera threaded a pass between two defenders to Tajouri, who turned and blasted a rising left-footer into the net to cap the scoring in the 76th minute.

Diego Fagundez bent a shot from well outside the box off the post to give New England a 1-0 lead in the 11th.

Tajouri tied it early in the second half, first-timing a cross from Saad AbdulSalaa­m past a diving Matt Turner from near the penalty spot and Juan Agudelo’s header in the 63rd put the Revolution back in front.

FC DALLAS 1, TIMBERS 1: Roland Lamah scored his third goal in two games and Jimmy Maurer had a careerhigh five saves as Dallas (1-0-2) tied Portland (0-2-1) in Frisco, Texas. Sebastian Blanco tied the game for Portland in the 47th minute.

RED BULLS 3, MINNESOTA UNITED 0: Bradley Wright-Phillips scored twice as New York (2-1-0) rolled over Minnesota (2-2-0) in Harrison, New Jersey. RAPIDS 2, SPORTING KC 2: Diego Rubio scored in stoppage time to give Kansas City (2-1-1) a draw with Colorado (0-1-1) in Commerce City, Colorado. Dominique Badji and Joe Mason gave the Rapids a two-goal lead eight minutes into the game.
