Zanesville police announced Wednesday they are searching for an ex-convict considered armed and dangerous who is charged with aggravated murder in the March 31 slaying of a local woman.

Police Chief Tony Coury held a news conference to reveal that Ryan R. Adams, 30, has been charged in the killing of Kylee Lindell, 44, of Zanesville.

Coury said police believe that it’s likely Adams is still in the area. He said they want to talk to anyone who even gives Adams “a cup of coffee or glass of water.”

“I think the chief is trying to stress just how dangerous Adams is,” Zanesville Police Lt. Chris Rice said during the news conference. “There will be zero tolerance for any assistance (given to Adams).”

Coury gave sparse details about the killing.

Lindell’s body was found somewhere in southern Muskingum County on Tuesday, Coury said, refusing to be more specific. Police believe that Adams killed Lindell at a Zanesville location on March 31, the day before Easter.

Coury said that Adams and Lindell knew each other, but he doesn’t know their relationship. Lindell’s family members had approached police soon after March 31, worried about her.

Police filed aggravated murder charges against Adams on Friday, April 6, according to Zanesville Municipal Court records.

Adams has done two stretches in the Ohio prison system, a records review by The Dispatch found. Last June, Adams was released from the Ross Correctional Institution after serving 17 months for a felonious assault conviction out of Muskingum County in January 2016.

When he was a teenager in 2005, Adams was sentenced as an adult by a Muskingum County Common Pleas Court judge to six years in prison for aggravated burglary with a gun specification and theft charges.
