Condo- style sites open for tour

- By Jim Weiker

Home shoppers with a taste for condo life can sample a smorgasbord this weekend and next during CondoQuest, sponsored by the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio.

During the event, 25 condominium-style communities will be open, offering visitors a wide range of styles and locations.

“There is truly something for everyone," said BIA Executive Director Jon Melchi. "Downsizing or upsizing, lease or own, the options and amenities available at these properties are countless.”

Condo builders hope to continue momentum from last year. Central Ohio builders sold 773 condos in 2017, up from 537 the year before, as empty nesters replaced their family home with maintenance-free living.

"It’s people who no longer need larger The master suite in Epcon Communities’ Courtyard at Bradford Court

homes and want more freedom to do the things they want to do," said Nanette Overly of Epcon Communities, which is showcasing three communities in the tour.

Not all 25 communities in the tour are true condos: Eleven offer for-rent patio homes built by Redwood Living, with rents from $1,149 to $1,799 a month.

The remaining communities offer homes for sale, with prices ranging from $225,000 to more than $1 million.

Builders include Bob Webb Homes, Brier Hill Associates,

CCBI Homes, Epcon Communities, Grand Tradition Homes, Romanelli & Hughes Building Co., Schottenstein Homes, 3 Pillar Homes and Weaver Custom Homes.

Although most of the homes are ranches — some with finished basements — a few communities offer two-story options.

The free event continues from noon to 5 p.m. today and next Saturday and Sunday.
