Groveport Madison to begin interviews for top school job
The Groveport Madison Board of Education plans to interview eight people next week to be the district’s next superintendent, including the interim superintendent and a former school administrator who was in the running recently to lead the Columbus City Schools.
The board approved a recommendation by its search firm, K12 Business Consulting, on Wednesday to invite the following eight candidates for interviews Wednesday and Thursday out of 29 applicants:
• Karen Arbogast, director of elementary education for Wooster schools.
• Keith M. Bell, a former superintendent of Euclid schools and a former principal of Groveport Madison High School who works at Ohio State University. Earlier this year, Bell was a finalist to become Columbus’ superintendent.
• Todd D. Boggs, superintendent of Osnaburg schools in East Canton and a former principal of Groveport Elementary School.
• Reva C. Cosby, superintendent of Mount Healthy schools near Cincinnati.
• John Hurd, interim superintendent of Groveport Madison schools, who has been deputy superintendent since August 2016.
• Carl R. Metzger, assistant superintendent of South-Western schools in Grove City.
• Kershini Naidu, director of student services at Orange schools in Pepper Pike near Cleveland.
• Garilee Speer Ogden, director of curriculum, instruction and professional development for Groveport Madison schools.
After next week’s first interviews, the board plans another round on May 23 and 24, district spokesman Jeff Warner said.
Among the initial 29 applicants were Bob Humble, superintendent of Fairbanks schools in Union County; M. Scott Reeves, an administrator for Westerville schools; Brian Seymour, director of technology for Pickerington schools, and Donis Toler Jr., a former principal of Groveport Madison and Dublin Scioto high schools who is an administrator at Princeton schools near Cincinnati.
Groveport Madison began its superintendent search in February after Bruce Hoover, who had held the post since 2012, stepped down to deal with a family tragedy.
