Burrow reportedly transferring to LSU
Former Ohio State quarterback Joe Burrow evidently is taking his talents to the Southeastern Conference, LSU to be precise.
Burrow has chosen LSU over the University of Cincinnati, according a report from The Cincinnati Enquirer, citing an unnamed source at UC.
Burrow, who has two seasons of eligibility remaining, spent the last three years at Ohio State but, upon gaining his degree two weeks ago, announced that he would transfer to a school where he would have an immediate chance to be the starter.
At Ohio State, Burrow had been in a competition to replace J.T. Barrett, with coach Urban Meyer not declaring a front-runner coming out of spring practice between Burrow and Dwayne Haskins Jr.
LSU, with coach Ed Orgeron, went into the spring with a three-man competition of Myles Brennan, Justin McMillan and Lowell Narcisse vying to start. According to reports, the Tigers left spring practice with no clear-cut favorite to run an offense revamped by new coordinator Steve Ensminger.
That’s why LSU was interested in Burrow, hosting him and his family last weekend. That came after Burrow made a visit to Cincinnati, led by coach Luke Fickell, a former longtime Ohio State defensive coordinator.
Burrow is unproven, in terms of playing time. Over the past two years, the Athens native appeared in just 10 games, going 29-of39 passing, for 287 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. He backed up Barrett in 2016 but lost a chance to return to that role in 2017 when he suffered a broken bone in his throwing during preseason camp.
