The dead of Santa Fe
Authorities on Saturday released the names of the 10 people killed in the shooting Friday at Santa Fe High School in Texas.
Eight of the 10 were students: Kimberly Vaughan, Shana Fisher, Angelique Ramirez, Christian Riley Garcia, Jared Black, Sabika Sheikh, Christopher Jake Stone and Aaron Kyle McLeod. The other two, Glenda Perkins and Cynthia Tisdale, were teachers.
Remembering each:
Kimberly Vaughan
Rhonda Hart hashtagged her Facebook message about her daughter with the terms “fightforkim” and “oneof10.”
‘‘Folks — call your damn senators. Call your congressmen,’’ Hart wrote. ‘‘We need GUN CONTROL. WE NEED TO PROTECT OUR KIDS.’’
Shana Fisher
Shana’s mother, Sadie Rodriguez, told The Houston Chronicle that Shana was shy and sweet, had just turned 16 and was devoted to her dog, Kallie.
She also thinks her daughter was intentionally targeted by gunman Dimitrios Pagourtzi.
“He kept making advances on her and she repeatedly told him no,” but the advances got more aggressive, Rodriguez said. The week before the shooting, her daughter “stood up to him” by embarrassing him in class.
‘‘She should be worrying about getting her driver’s license, making plans for summer break, maybe start thinking junior year and making plans for college and what she wants be when she grows up,’’ an aunt, Ericha Fisher Farris, wrote on Facebook.
Angelique Ramirez
Family members and friends called Angelique compassionate and funny, a loving older sister with a contagious smile.
‘‘With a broken heart and a soul that just can’t process all this right now, I have to announce my niece was one of the fatalities,’’ Sylvia Pritchett wrote in a Facebook post. ‘‘Please keep all the families in your thoughts, and hug your children tightly.’’
