A water bottle also was collected as evidence from a home in the 7700 block of Burkey Drive on the same day. Items were stolen from both homes.

Later that day, police were called about a man who was unresponsi­ve from a drug overdose. The mother of the overdose victim, who survived, told police that her son’s colostomy bag was leaking and he had told her about trading items for food.

The man was found in possession of items stolen from the Broadwyn Drive and Burkey Drive homes, according to court records.

Police obtained a search warrant to gather his DNA to compare it with that from the fecal matter and the water bottle. records, the man ignored a closure on Route 104 in Pickaway County, where troopers and Franklin County deputy sheriffs were investigat­ing the fatal crash about 1 a.m. on July 28. The man reportedly drove through the closure into the investigat­ion scene.

Officers pursued the car to northbound Interstate 270 and Groveport Road, where the driver was taken into custody.

Court records indicate that during the pursuit, the man struck at least five patrol cruisers. The man allegedly resisted officers who were trying to arrest him.

Court records indicate that two officers were injured.

A search of the man’s vehicle turned up a white substance believed to be cocaine, according to court records.

Charges were filed against the man for aggravated vehicular assault, resisting arrest, hit-skip, failure to control, reckless operation and turn-signal violations.
