NEWARK — A Newark woman has been charged with trying to bring a loaded gun into the Licking County Justice Center by hiding it in her bra, according to court records.

Kimberly K. Zigan, 36, initially was arrested Sunday night, accused of assaulting a man earlier that day, court records state. After the incident, the man saw Zigan as he was driving along South 2nd Street in Newark. When he stopped to take a picture of Zigan, she pointed a gun at him, according to court documents.

The man contacted Newark police, who responded to Zigan’s home. She admitted to owning a gun, but denied having it on her at that time. Zigan did admit to pointing a gun at someone earlier in the day, saying that her life was in danger, but she was unable to provide any details, police reported in court documents.

Zigan was arrested on charges of aggravated menacing and brandishing a firearm. During processing at the county jail, a loaded .380 Ruger LCP Auto pistol was found concealed in Zigan’s bra, police said.

Paula Sawyers, an assistant Licking County prosecutor, said a more serious felony charge of illegal conveyance of a firearm was then filed Monday against Zigan. The lesser charges of aggravated menacing and brandishing a firearm were dropped, but will be presented to the county grand jury for consideration, she said.

Zigan was released on her own recognizance Monday afternoon. Zigan
