McDonald’s Ohio stores to get $251M in updates

Most of Ohio’s hundreds of McDonald’s restaurant­s are going to get some updates.

The nation’s biggest burger company and its franchisee­s plan to spend $251 million from now through 2019 to modernize or build 380 stores. The investment in Ohio is part of the Chicago-based company’s announceme­nt of a national push to remodel and update most of its more than 14,000 stores across the U.S. McDonald’s and its franchise partners are budgeting $6 billion for the project.

To understand the scale of McDonald’s footprint, the 380 stores that it plans to refresh in Ohio is about as many stores as Columbusba­sed White Castle operates McDonald’s plans to update hundreds of stores in Ohio include new dining-room furniture and updated and brighter menu boards. in the entire U.S.

Wendy’s has been working for years to remodel its company and franchised stores.

Wendy’s recently introduced a new scaled-down concept — one such unit opened in Grandview Heights last month — that is less expensive to build yet offers a bank of ordering kiosks, full kitchen capacity, a covered outdoor patio and a modern exterior aesthetic that could fit into urban settings as well as suburban ones.
