A funeral service will be held Saturday for a 9-yearold Lancaster girl killed last week when her father lost control of his Ford Mustang and rolled it over in Winnecone, Wisconsin.

Steven Brownell, 58, who lives in Larsen and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, was driving the car Aug. 10 with daughter Kherington Rose Brownell and her brother, Kage Prince Brownell, 13, the Winnebago County (Wisconsin) sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office had received calls about the Mustang driving erratically shortly before the crash occurred on Routes 45 and 116 in Winnecone.

Brownell’s car went off the road and into a ditch, causing it to roll over.

Kherington was pronounced dead at the scene.

Brownell and his son, Kage, were seriously injured, the Kherington sheriff’s office said.

Alcohol use and excessive speed are believed to have caused the crash, the sheriff’s office said. Brownell has not been charged in the crash, which remains under investigation.

“This was a horrendous event for all public safety personnel involved,” the sheriff’s office release said. “Children are absolutely not supposed to die like this.”

Kherington was a student at the Mount Pleasant Elementary School in Lancaster. She was a member of the Girl Scouts and enjoyed soccer, drawing, Pokemon and her cat, Sammy.

In addition to her father and brother, survivors include her mother, Krista Prince, and five other siblings: Nicholas, Stephanie, Austin, Matthew and Keelee.

Visitation for Kherington Rose Brownell will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday with a funeral to follow at 4 p.m. at the Cook & Son-Pallay Funeral Home, 1631 Parsons Ave.
