A teenager and a 23-yearold man are dead, and two other men are recovering from gunshot wounds, after two separate shootings on the Northeast Side Friday.

In the first shooting, Javon Tyrese Carson, 17, was found injured in the street outside a home on the 4100 block of Chesford Road in the Hyde Park area of the Northeast Side around 1:30 a.m. Friday.

Medics rushed Carson, who was not responsive, to OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

About five minutes after that shooting, a man identified as 20-year-old Fahad Mohamed Moalim, of the Northeast Side, came to Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital with a gunshot wound to his face, according to police.

It was later determined that Moalim’s injury was related to the Chesford Road scene.

Around 4:15 a.m. Friday, a second man, identified as Abdisalan Ahmed Shire, 29, of the Northeast Side, came to St. Ann’s with a gunshot wound in his hand. That injury also was determined to be related to the Chesford Road scene, police said.

Carson’s death is the 79th homicide in the city for 2018.

Nearly six hours later Friday, the city’s 80th homicide occurred around 7:15 a.m. on the 1900 block of Minnesota Avenue of the Northeast Side.

According to police, a 23-year-old man was dropping his dog off at a friend’s home on Minnesota Avenue when a suspect got out of a silver car and shot the man multiple times.

Medics took the man, whose name has not yet been released, to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 7:45 a.m.

No arrests had been made in either shooting as of late Friday night.
