Moeller eliminates Olentangy Liberty
Jordan Walter returned from a four-minute breather with 2:31 remaining in overtime Wednesday night in Springfield and 27 seconds later scored the golden goal to send Cincinnati Moeller to a 1-0 victory over Olentangy Liberty and its first trip to the Division I championship game.
Walter, who was subbed out for in the 89th minute returned to action in the 93rd, was camped out in front of the net when he sent home a Sam Hegg pass on a set play.
Liberty (18-2), which was making its first final-four appearance since 2014, took 11 shots, including three on net. Moeller (19-1-3) will face Medina (17-14) in the final at 7 p.m. Saturday at Mapfre Stadium. (18-3) in Xenia.
The unmarked Simpson ran to the near post to meet a corner kick and shot a onetimer to the opposite post. The match was an uphill battle for the defending champion Stallions, who were without coach Domenic Romanell (illness) and later lost midfielder Josh Conroy after a leg injury.
The Silver Knights will play Richfield Revere (17-2-3) at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Sam Reid scored his second of two goals with 9:12 remaining and Dayton Christian (20-2-1) rallied to defeat Grandview (162-3) in a Division III semifinal at London.
Manny Day of Grandview had two goals less than five minutes apart in the first half, to reach 50 this season, for a 2-0 lead. Reid notched his first goal of the game early in the second half to tie it at 2.
Dayton will face Archbold (21-1) in the final at 1 p.m. Saturday.
