Bengals’ Green out for season with toe injury

- From wire reports

A.J. Green wore a boot on his right foot Monday at Paul Brown Stadium to protect his injured right toe.

The Cincinnati Bengals receiver re-injured himself in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Denver Broncos and it has ended his season, according to multiple reports.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Green will need surgery on torn ligaments in the toe and will be out three to four months.

This comes a week after Andy Dalton had surgery on a torn ligament in his thumb that ended his season.

Green will soon become the 15th Bengals player to go on injured reserve this season. The club put 12 players on IR before Dec. 1 the past three years combined.

On Monday, Green carried boxes of cleats and didn't stop to chat with reporters.

It took him four weeks — three missed games The Eagles’ Golden Tate pulls in a touchdown pass against the Redskins’ Greg Stroman during the first half Monday night in Philadelphia.

and an off week — to return after his initial injury in week 8 against Tampa Bay.

Green caught just one pass for 7 yards before falling to the turf in pain in the second quarter on Sunday. Cleveland Browns rookie Denzel Ward

remains in concussion protocol after getting hurt in Sunday's loss at Houston.

Ward got injured in the first half and did not return in Cleveland's 29-13 loss to the Texans.

Interim coach Gregg Williams said Ward was initially checked for a neck "stinger" before he was evaluated for a head injury. The No.

4 overall pick in this year's draft, Ward has three interceptions this season.

Williams has been critical of Ward's tackling and said the former Ohio State standout needed to be lower before he took contact.

Williams said defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi is still being evaluated for a biceps injury.

It's too early to say if either Ward or Ogunjobi will be available Sunday when the Browns (4-71) play host to Carolina.

Kareem Hunt went unclaimed on NFL waivers Monday, three days after a video was released that showed the running back shoving and kicking a woman in an incident in Cleveland that ultimately led to his release by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Police did not charge Hunt with a crime, but the Chiefs released him for being untruthful with them about what happened during the February incident. Hunt is on the commissioner's exempt list and cannot play even if another team signs him. The NFL says it is continuing its investigation.

Also on Monday, a police report surfaced in which a suburban Kansas City man told police that Hunt was among a group of men that assaulted him during a nightclub altercation in January.

The incident happened Jan. 11 at Mosaic, a club in Kansas City. The 38-year-old victim was treated at a hospital for a broken rib, broken nose and other injuries. But as was the case in the assault captured on a Cleveland hotel security camera, no criminal charges were filed in the case.

The Chiefs declined to comment on the January incident.

EAGLES 28, REDSKINS 13: Carson Wentz threw two touchdown passes and host Philadelphia (6-6) pulled even with Washington (6-6) in second place in the NFC East, one game behind Dallas. Wentz threw a 4-yard TD to Jordan Matthews early in the fourth quarter for a 22-13 lead and Jake Elliott added two field goals for the Eagles. Adrian Peterson had a 90-yard scoring run for the Redskins, who lost quarterback Colt McCoy to a leg injury in the first half.
