‘Destroyer’

Details: Nicole Kidman stars in the story of a detective ravaged by a case that went wrong 15 years ago. Kidman is excellent, but the movie’s pace is slow. (2:03)

R for strong sexual content, nudity and language Details: In 18th-century England, a lowly scullery maid (Emma Stone) earns the admiration of Queen Anne (a magnificent Olivia Colman). The film is pure, devious fun. (1:59)
‘Glass’
PG-13 for violence, including some bloody images; thematic elements; and language
Details: Bruce Willis and James Mcavoy are among the actors reprising their roles in M. Night Shyamalan’s third movie in his "Unbreakable" trilogy. The film is dark and overwrought, but Mcavoy’s performance is amazing. (2:09)
‘The Kid Who Would Be King’
PG for fantasy action violence; scary images; thematic elements, including some bullying; and language
Details: An English boy (Louis Ashbourne Serkis) stumbles across Excalibur, the sword belonging to King Arthur, and recruits three other kids in a quest to save their nation. The film is too long, but it is clever, inspiring and relevant. (2:00)
‘Miss Bala’
PG-13 for sequences of gun violence, sexual and drug content, thematic material, and language Details: Gina Rodriguez stars as a Gloria, a woman visiting a friend in Mexico; the friend is kidnapped by gangsters, and Gloria must do their bidding to keep her friend alive. Rodriguez’s performance is notable and satisfying. (1:44)
‘On the Basis of Sex’
PG-13 for some language and suggestive content Details: Felicity Jones plays a younger Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she battles gender bias to carve out a legal career that leads her to a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court. The serious movie grows steadily until it becomes inspiring. (2:00)
