Rap has no equal in ‘Hamilton: The Sequel’

In honor of the smash play “Hamilton” being in town, today present “Hamilton: The Sequel.”

A time-traveling Alexander Hamilton arrives in 2019 Washington eager see how the American Revolution has fared.

He learns that the government is struck in chaos and conflict. A perplexed Hamilton stands in front of the Washington Monument and raps:

Hey, yo, what happened to my country?

It was like me, scrappy and hungry,

But now bloated, overfed, barely gets outta bed,

Fussin’ and Tweetin’ over nothin’ at all,

Something ‘bout a wall, what’s the story, y’all?

A disillusio­ned citizen sitting on a park bench explains to Hamilton that the nation is bitterly divided, mired in debt and heavily influenced by whoever funnels the most money to politician­s. He raps the rest of the lesson:

Essentiall­y, they cut taxes relentless­ly,

But they flunked arithmetic and so the spending spree

goes on, and our kiddies will never be debt-free

The rich gettin’ paid off and I’m laid off, see?
