Rock and country set to dominate concerts at fair

- By Julia Oller The Columbus Dispatch joller@dispatch.com @juliaoller

If the heat and melted cotton candy prove too strong a foe at this year's Ohio State Fair, the concerts in the airconditioned Celeste Center will offer a cool respite.

Music from the 1960s and ’70s will dominate the 2019 Ohio State Fair concert lineup, scheduled from July 24 through Aug. 4. These include REO Speedwagon, Bad Company, a John Denver tribute and a mashup of 1960s pop and rock bands.

Country music will have three representatives: Toby Keith, Hank Williams Jr. and Chris Young.

Two nights of R&B will feature Lyfe Jennings, Chante Moore and Carl Thomas on one bill, and the S.O.S. Band and Midnight Star on another.

Also scheduled to perform are Kidz Bop, the All-ohio State Fair Band & Youth Choir, comic Gabriel Iglesias and Christian artist Matthew West.

All concerts will take place in the Celeste Center, which will host the Sale of Champions Livestock Auction on Aug. 4. The venue is located at the Ohio Expo Center, Interstate 71 and East 17th Avenue. Tickets will be available at www.ticketmaster. com/ohiostatefair. Concert tickets purchased in advance will include fair admission.
