Tory Burch store to open at Easton

- From staff and wire reports

The first Tory Burch women’s fashion store in Ohio will open in June at Easton Town Center.

The 1,982-square-foot location at 4175 The Strand in Easton's North District is next to Tommy Bahama. The store will occupy part of a 5,428-square-foot space formerly occupied by Loft Ann Taylor.

Burch started her fashion label in 2004 after working for designers Ralph Lauren, Vera Wang and Narciso Rodriguez at Loewe. Originally calling the brand “Tory by TRB,” she later changed it to simply Tory Burch, and modeled the clothing after her own wardrobe, what friends have called a “bohemian preppy lady” look.

Another as-yet-unannounced tenant will occupy the other part of the space.

New Caesar added to Wendy’s salad menu

Wendy’s is expanding its salad offerings, with the Dublin-based burger chain adding the Parmesan Caesar Chicken Salad to its menu.

The Parmesan Caesar Chicken Salad is made with romaine lettuce, grape tomatoes and a grilled chicken breast. It is topped with Asiago, Parmesan and Romano cheeses, crunchy Parmesan crisps and drizzled with Caesar dressing.

The Parmesan Caesar Chicken salad is $6.79 for a full-size and $4.79 for a half-size. It is the fifth salad on Wendy's menu.

Clothing group sells interest in Maurices

Ascena Retail Group, parent of such brands as Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant and Justice, has sold a majority interest in its Maurices clothing chain.

An affiliate of the private equity firm Opcapita LLP has bought the women’s clothing chain for approximately $300 million. Ascena expects to receive roughly $200 million in cash after expenses, while maintaining a significant minority interest.

Ascena will continue to support the Maurices brand through its IT, supply chain, sourcing and certain backoffice functions.

Ascena has been struggling for several years in the highly competitive retail sector. Shares of Ascena rose 8 percent Monday on the Maurices news, but the closing price of $1.16 is a fraction of the $17.24 the shares traded for five years ago.

Ascena is based in New Jersey, and Justice and Lane Bryant are based in Columbus.
