Independen­ce Day takes over television

The Fourth of July offers a star-spangled day of movies, marathons and more. Among the offerings:

•“America: The Story of Us” (8 a.m., History): The country’s entire 400-year history is recounted in this 2010 docu/drama series that runs through 8 p.m.

• 2019 Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest (noon, ESPN2): Live coverage of the annual Coney Island chow-down.

•“Yankee Doodle Dandy” (8 p.m., TCM): James Cagney plays patriotic composer George M. Cohan in this musical, followed by William Daniels’ portrayal of John Adams in “1776” at 10:15 p.m.

•“The Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks Spectacula­r” (8 p.m., NBC): The fireworks phantasmag­oria over New York City features Kelly Clarkson, Ricky Martin and Keith Urban.

(8 p.m., PBS): John Stamos hosts the pyrotechni­cs in Washington, D.C., that will include performanc­es by Lee Brice, Vanessa Williams.

•“2019 Let Freedom Sing Fireworks” (11 p.m., CMT): The Nashville fireworks show follows a live Brett Eldredge concert at 10 p.m.

Port Columbus to mark anniversar­y

To celebrate the 90th anniversar­y of Port Columbus, the city’s original airport, several local historical organizati­ons will host a party and public viewing of the first terminal.

The event will take place July 13 with a free viewing from noon to 4 p.m. at 4920 E. 5th Ave.

A ticketed “Hangar One Celebratio­n” and presentati­ons by Robert Kirk, author of “The Building of an Airport: Port Columbus — America’s Greatest Air Harbor 1929,” and Ron Kaplan, director of the future Ohio Air & Space Hall of Fame and Museum, will follow at 575 N. Hamilton Road.
