Nicklaus’ endorsement says more about him than Trump Blame governors, not president, for coronavirus response

-

I was somewhat surprised this week when I saw the news that golfer Jack Nicklaus supported President Donald Trump for reelection. Nicklaus, one of the best golfers ever, likes the way that the president runs the country. This surprises me because the president is alleged to be a well-known golf cheat.

Some may say, “so what?” Golfer Ben Crenshaw said, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.”

With this well-known history of presidential golf-cheating, Nicklaus’ endorsement of the president either means that he is naive (unlikely) or that he at least tolerates cheating.

For me, Jack Nicklaus is no longer on the pedestal that I had put him on.

Each governor in the union has been responsible for their own state’s actions and subsequent shutdowns to quell the spread of the coronavirus. All of the governors have reacted to the pandemic in various ways with varying results.

The president has been accused by the Democratic National Committee of being responsible for the current uptick in cases and hospitalizations, which is absolutely false. Each state has called its own shots.

The current political ads depicting President Donald Trump as the problem are very misleading and not true.

Ohio Gov. Mike Dewine has done a decent job, but the numbers are heading the wrong way. The citizens must comply with the current protocols in order for the numbers to go down.

The president has nothing to do with the states’ actions and mandates.
