Why are Republicans sticking with the president? Trump is good at spinning a false narrative
I am a lifelong moderate conservative. The Republican Party needs people like me if they what to remain relevant in American politics. But national Republican leaders, even our own Gov. Mike Dewine, chose to stand by, silently complicit or actively support a would-be demagogue in his rants about an illegitimate election because of widespread voter fraud?
They know there is no truth to that. And they know President Trump’s behavior is further stoking domestic unrest and endangering our national security. Are they so fear-struck by him that they can’t stand up for what’s right? Or do they care more about the Republican Party power than the health and security of our American democracy?

Donald Trump’s entire life has been a series of deceptive frauds (i.e., cons) which he has pursued in order to support his narcissistic personality.
In order to successfully con people you need at least two things. First, you need a hint of a narrative that will support your con. Second, you need gullible people who want to believe you.
For example, in his preelection battle with Joe Biden, Trump desperately wanted the Ukrainian president to announce an investigation of Biden. He didn’t particularly want or need an actual investigation. All he really wanted was an announcement to help pull off his con.
Now, in order to save face regarding his election defeat, and in order to pull off yet another con with gullible supporters, he is trying to create a narrative that the election was fraudulent. He will continue to build on this lie and he will never back away. This is all he knows.
