Rudolf Yruegas, resident of Whitehall, known to his friends as “Rudy”, passed away at the age of 90 on January 19, 2021, due to complicati­ons from the Coronaviru­s. Born March 21, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas, Rudy was preceded in death by his parents Juan and Dolores Noyola Yruegas, his wife of 57 years Patricia Dishong Yruegas, his son John Mark, and his siblings Hortencia, Benito, and Edward. Rudy will be lovingly remembered by his children, David (Tracy), Eric (Peggy); and daughterin-law, Gail; grandchild­ren, Erin (Bradley) Grigsby, Jessica (Johnathan) Oyster,

Jordan Reed, Elisabeth, Joseph and Harry; great-grandchild­ren, John Oliver, Parker, Mya and Phoebe; and brother-in-law, Walter Jones. Rudy is also survived by a very dear friend, Ms. Jo Riffle. Rudy proudly served his country in the military for 42 years. Beginning with the Army Air Corps, the Air Force, Air Force Reserves, and then Navy Reserves, ultimately retiring as Senior Master Sergeant Rudolf Yruegas. He is an excellent example of dedicated service to the country that he loved, and the family thanks him. He was an avid reader and loved to learn new things on a wide range of topics.

He was a lover of words, crossword puzzles, and maintained a sharp mind and vocabulary. Anyone who knew him has heard him say, “Oh, what’s the word, what’s the word…”. He was also an active member of both the Whitehall and Reynoldsbu­rg Senior Centers where he would enjoy every Euchre or card game he could find. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
