Aldi is planning to open a store on North High Street between Graceland Shopping Center and Worthington.
The grocery store chain is proposing building a store on the site of the American Heart Association building, 5455 N. High St., on the northern border of Columbus.
In documents submitted to the city, Aldi said it has purchased the property, which the American Heart Association’s central Ohio chapter has owned since 1987.
In its place, Aldi plans to build a 19,209-square-foot store.
The store must get a zoning variance for its sign, among other variances.
Aldi’s request, which the city’s planning department staff supported, is scheduled to come before the Clintonville Area Commission’s zoning meeting Wednesday.
Aldi also recently received approval for an 18,026-square-foot store at 3280 Tremont Road in Upper Arlington’s Kingsdale Center.
Aldi now operates 20 central Ohio stores. jweiker@dispatch.com @Jimweiker
