Ice falling from a tractor-trailer traveling on Interstate 70 in Guernsey County Monday afternoon injured a Senecaville motorist when it punched a hole through his vehicle's windshield.

Brandon Booher, 34, was transported by United Ambulance to Southeastern Med after being struck in the face by flying glass from the windshield of the 2006 Nissan Titan he was driving.

Dduring a 911 call to the Guernsey County Sheriff 's Office just after 1 p.m., Booher told a dispatcher he may have swallowed glass from the windshield. He also reportedly suffered minor lacerations from the glass.

Booher was treated in the emergency department at the Cambridge hospital and later released, according to a nursing supervisor.

The incident was one of two Monday involving vehicles being struck by flying debris falling from other vehicles while traveling on I-70.

The second incident at 8:10 p.m. did not result in any injuries.

According to the State Highway Patrol's Cambridge post, Booher was driving west on I-70 at approximately 1 p.m. Monday when a sheet of ice fell from the trailer of a tractor-trailer operated by Michael Stevens, 47, of Lancaster.

Moderate damage was reported to the Titan as a result of the impact.

No injuries were reported by Stevens nor was any damage reported to the 2015 International Workstar he was driving. The truck is reportedly owned by Transportation Office of Lancaster.

The patrol reported Stevens stopped on I-70 after seeing Booher flashing his vehicle's lights. The patrol reported the ice had melted by the time of the onscene investigation.

Both drivers were wearing safety belts.

No citations were issued.

The second incident involved a 2018 Peterbilt tractor-trailer driven by Justin Winter, 35, of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, being struck by flying debris from a vehicle being towed by another tractortrailer.

Winter was in the left lane of I-70 preparing to pass the second tractortrailer at approximately 8:10 p.m. when his truck was struck by the flying debris.

The Peterbilt sustained damage to the hood, grill, front bumper, gas tank cover and a mud flap, according to the highway patrol. No injuries were reported by Winter.

The second truck reportedly exited I-70 at the Batesville Road (Ohio 513) exit near Middlebourne and was not located by authorities.

The second incident remained under investigation by the patrol's Cambridge post.
