Dewine too quick in trying to get everyone vaccinated

-

While I can appreciate Gov. Dewine’s desire to get as many people as possible vaccinated, by opening the process to everyone over 18 doesn’t seem very logical.

The fact is that those over the age of 50 are most vulnerable to contract and die from the virus. The vaccine is not being distributed to the suburbs where they reside. Gov. Dewine has just put thousands of additional people in the eligible pool. Unless we have a greater supply of the vaccine to satisfy these additional requests, people in the 50-60 age group will have an even more difficult time finding locations to get the vaccine. The plan doesn’t seem very well thought out.

Let’s never forget how essential they are

I was gazing patiently into the drive-thru window as my son’s order was being prepared. My attention was drawn to the many restaurant workers. They were moving like a well-oiled machine. In that moment, I had an “a-ha” moment.

Reflecting on last year and what essential workers mean to our daily existence is astounding. Industries such as food service, medical, finance, retail, medical, transportation, government, real estate, delivery services and so many more kept not only America, but the world running. The people filling the roles within these industries are as essential to their families as they are to us.

My hopes are that as we gain momentum to fully open back up, we continue to see them, appreciate them and always hold them in high esteem. They saved us in our time of need, even at the risk of themselves. Thank you.
