Here are the solutions to the riddles in the 16th edition of Joe’s Mildly Entertaini­ng Easter Egg Hunt:

Riddle 1

Egg 1 is taking a nice nature walk At a place that attracts avid fans of hard rock,

On 500 acres, straddling counties, People still dig its mineral bounties, Cutting-edge stuff that really excites With its piercing beauty and what it ignites.

Flint Ridge Ancient Quarries and Nature Preserve, 15300 Flint Ridge Road, Glenford, Ohio, is the site of pits dug by American Indians who came to collect its rainbow-colored rock for tool making, fire-starting and jewelry. It’s in Licking and Muskingum counties.

Riddle 2

Where curving neon makes a point We hid an egg inside a joint, A country place to soon be history, It’s lighted beacon? Still a mystery, But time remains for pals to cluster For one last gravy-covered buster. The Tee Jaye’s Country Place restaurant at Morse Road and North High Street is known for its giant neon arrow sign and Barnyard Buster breakfast. It will close in May after 29 years; the sign’s fate is unclear.

Riddle 3

You’ll make this morning’s egg connection

At a brick-paved intersecti­on, The legacy of Sue and kin, Come eat beneath their hammered tin,

Valet-park and in you go

To soak up artwork and merlot. Lindey’s Restaurant & Bar, 169 E. Beck St., in German Village was founded in 1981 by the late Sue Doody, who operated it with her sons. Patrons love its food, ornate tin ceiling and artwork.

Riddle 4

Where the early birds go to cast Was a department store in its past, Outside, party people swarm

To plea for X’s on a form,

The egg is standing at the door In line already for ’24.

Franklin County Board of Elections headquarte­rs, 1700 Morse Road, attracts long lines of early voters, especially in presidenti­al election years. It was formerly a Kohl’s store.

Riddle 5

In Columbus we once produced shelters of steel, Porcelain-coated for added appeal, Designed to give people more places to stay,

The egg is in one that’s on public display,

A building in a building, metallic, distinct,

Nearby is a mastodon, also extinct. Lustron houses were porcelainc­oated steel dwellings made on an assembly line in Columbus to address the post-world War II housing shortage. The company failed after producing 2,600 houses, one of which is at the Ohio History Center.

Riddle 6

Oh how the plaques and nostalgia will grab ya

In this commemorat­ive garden of aesculus glabra,

Honoring the best of our jukers, pancakers,

Gunners and burners and tricky play-fakers,

To an athletic arbor you must cast your eyes

If you want to lay claim to today’s Egg Hunt prize.

Buckeye Grove, just south of Ohio Stadium, contains scores of buckeye trees (aesculus glabra), with plaques honoring Ohio State football players who earned All-america honors.

Riddle 7

Hit them with a well-aimed ball And all ducks will take a fall,

At this place where you can find The largest paddle of its kind,

On Egg 8 you’ll get a grip Where patrons sip and wizards flip. PINS Mechanical, 141 N. 4th Street, is a bar, restaurant and entertainm­ent spot featuring duckpin bowling, pinball machines and the world’s largest Ping Pong paddle.

Riddle 8

Once it spanned Darby, now Alum’s its home,

Over its decking you’ll see Giants roam,

Headed to Easton for some kind of splurge

Or maybe way down there where three creeks converge,

Egg 8 is perched on a metal-trussed beauty

That’s served in two places on a long tour of duty.

Built in 1888, the Beach Road Bridge spanned Big Darby Creek at the Madison-franklin County line. When it was replaced by a new span in 2001, the old bridge was relocated to Alum Creek in Westervill­e, where it forms part of the Alum Creek Greenway. The trail — for biking, walking and other recreation — runs south, past Easton, to Three Creeks Metro Park.

Riddle 9

On a street that rhymes with Bexley, It’s decorated quite complexly, Flames and dragons glint in sun, Depictions of the seated one, Find this Southeast Asian shrine, And you’ll find Egg No. 9.

Watlao Buddhamama­karam, 3624 Bexvie Ave., is an extremely ornate and colorful Buddhist temple built by Laotian immigrants.

Riddle 10

Two statues praise the traveling lady Who came full circle in her 180, You want the one in which she stands With her story in her hands,

But if a globe is what she’s clasping Then Egg 10 you won’t be grasping. Two near-identical statues honor Jerrie Mock, the Bexley resident who became the first woman to fly solo around the world when she made the journey in a Cessna 180 in 1964. The statue that depicts her holding “Threeeight Charlie,” her book about the trip, is at The Works museum in Newark. The other, in which she holds a globe, is at John Glenn Internatio­nal Airport.
