Ohio folk trio Caamp will perform two back-to-back outdoor performances at Express Live on Aug. 27-28.

Announced by Promowest Productions on Friday, the Columbus-based band will perform in front of a combined crowd of 9,000 fans between the two shows – one of their largest performances to date.

After a year without live performances, Promowest spokeswoman Marissa Mcclellan said the announcement forged feelings of gratitude, as she and others were missing out on these shows.

“It’s almost beyond words, I can almost cry,” Mcclellan said. “It’s been a really tough year for live music and for us, we take it personally... With this show announcement specifically, we’re big Caamp fans and we’re excited this got to be one of the first shows we got to announce.”

As far as COVID-19 regulations, Mcclellan said those plans will be released closer to the performance date. However, the production company intends on following all guidelines outlined by Gov. Mike Dewine and local and national health officials.

“A lot of things can change between now and then, so we’re optomstic that we can reopen safely,” she said. “A lot of our protocols will be announced in the coming months.”

North Side resident Syndey Musoni said he’s looking forward to the return of live performances at Express Live and an opportunity to tap into new artists, especially with those with ties to the capital city.

“I’m excited for that atmospehere and for new people to experiece their music as well,” Musoni, 23, said. “I’m confient with everybody getting this vaccine and people are taking more COVID-19 proecautions,” he said. “I think it would be safe and enjoyable for me to be there.”

Tickets for both Caamp shows will be on sale beginning at 10 a.m. on April 16 and can be purchased online at https://www.ticketmaster.com/ caamp-tickets/artist/2269011.

In the coming months, Mcclellan said Promowest will continue working on developing future performances and setting dates for shows that were postponed last year. ehopkins@dispatch.com @Earl_hopkins1
