Elizabeth A. “Betsy” (Holbrook) Gillen, age 85, of Upper Arlington, died

Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Riverside Methodist

Hospital. Born and raised in Nashville, Illinois, the daughter of Rollin S. and

Florence (Riddle) Holbrook.

Betsy received a B.S. degree in Education from

Southern Illinois University in 1957 where she was a member of Sigma Sigma

Sigma sorority. Prior to having children, Betsy was an elementary school teacher and she later returned to education, teaching and directing the Covenant

Presbyteri­an Church Preschool years. She is survived by her children, Herbert J. Gillen,

Shelli (Alan) Thompson, and Kristi Reynolds. Also survived by grandchild­ren,

Sam (Madison) Thompson,

Katie Thompson, Karlee

Reynolds, Kortney Reynolds,

Andrew Mollmann,

Elizabeth Gillen, Herbie Gillen

and Johnny Gillen; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years

Herbert E. Gillen, her parents and her beloved sister

Nancy (Dennis) Burleyson.

Betsy was a member of

Discover Christian Church and was previously a longtime member of Upper

Betsy enjoyed residing at

Brookdale Trillium for the last two years. Friends may call 1-3pm Sunday, April 11 at DISCOVER CHRISTIAN

CHURCH, 2900 Martin

Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43017, where services will follow at 3pm Sunday with Pastor
