SANDUSKY – Cedar Point announced the hiring of Carrie Boldman as vice president and general manager, the first woman appointed to those key roles in the park’s 150-year history.

Boldman is succeeding Jason Mcclure, who has been promoted to senior vice president of park operations at Cedar Point’s parent company, Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, according to a news release.

Boldman’s new role also came as a promotion from within as she previously worked as the park’s vice president of merchandise and games.

Boldman has 25 years of experience, also having worked for Disney Parks and Resorts and The Chef’s Garden, a family-owned sustainable farm in Huron, her hometown, before joining Cedar Fair in 2013.

Being from Huron, Boldman said she grew up coming to Cedar Point and is proud to have the opportunity to lead the team at the park.

“The park has been a vital part of the Sandusky community for 150 years, and I look forward to forging even stronger connections with our guests through fun, immersive experiences,” she said.

Tim Fisher, chief operating officer of Cedar Fair, described Boldman as a talented leader with an impressive track record.

“We are confident that her skills and experience will help build on Cedar Point’s rich legacy of creating memorable experiences for the millions of guests who visit the park each year,” Fisher said.

Mcclure cited Boldman’s passion for the park, along with its associates and the whole team’s desire to continue the legacy of providing “legendary fun.”

He also expressed excitement about taking on his own new role at Cedar Fair, where he will be overseeing operations at six of its parks throughout this region of the country, including Cedar Point.

Mcclure had been serving as vice president and general manager of Cedar Point since 2014 and before that had a 20-year career with Cedar Fair.

Cedar Point is set to open for the 2021 season on May 14, beginning with weekends only for the first two weeks, then resuming daily operations after Memorial Day.
