Hilda H. Turcotte, 95, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio. Hilda is survived by her 5 daughters, Teresa Tucker (Jim), E. Peoria, IL, Luci Huffman, St. Petersburg, FL, Diane Higgins, Columbus, OH, Gloria Smith, St. Petersburg, FL, Janet Slyman (Greg Floyd), Ashley, OH; 13 grandchild­ren, Joseph, Kyle, Tracey, Amy, Elizabeth, Hannah, Paige, Cory, Devon, Sean, Laura,

Skyler, and Breanna; 11 great-grandchild­ren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 sisters, numerous aunts and uncles and her husband Roger Turcotte, Maj (USAF retired) who passed in 1989. (She had a very special friend, Ta Lynn, for the past 10 years until his passing in October 2019). Hilda was born on October 29, 1925 to Emmett and Letha Hogsett in Deerfield – a small village in the beautiful mountains of Virginia which she loved. She graduated from high school and in the mid 1940’s moved to Newport News, VA where she met her future husband. She and Roger married in May, 1948 and the couple had 5 daughters. After several military transfers, they settled in Columbus Oh/rickenback­er AFB and raised their family here. Hilda was a very social, active person who was deeply involved in her church, Walnut Heights Baptist Church, for the majority of her life in Columbus. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, arts and crafts, sewing and was a talented painter. Her family and friends will remember her as a very outspoken, entertaini­ng person who always had a good story to tell. There will be a visitation at Schoedinge­r East, 5360 E. Livingston Ave. in Columbus from 1-2pm on Friday, April 16 immediatel­y followed by the service at 2pm. Masks are required and attendance will be monitored to ensure social distancing requiremen­ts.
