Donald L. Hilbert, age 85, of Plain City, passed away Monday evening, April 12, 2021 at Monarch Care Center in Marysville, Ohio. Born July 2, 1935 in Marysville, Ohio to the late Leroy G. and Esther L. (Humphrey) Hilbert. A 1953 graduate of Plain City High School. Don was an original member that started the Plain City Volunteer Fire Department and served as the Fire Chief for 13 years. Owner and operator of Sohio Service Station from 19551976 along with laundry mat and speed wash. He was a 32 Degree Mason of Urania Lodge #311 F&AM and member OES Elizabeth Chapter #56 for over 60 years and Worthy Patron for 5 years. In addition to his parents, Don is also preceded in death by his wife Rebecca “Becky” (Reams) Hilbert in 2014, brother and sister-in-law William and Alice Hilbert, sister Judith Hilbert, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Margaret and Charles Swink, Joann “Jody” and Al Yansick, brother-in-law George Reams and sister-in-law Mary Bruce. He is survived by his sons, Steve (Kathleen) Hilbert, Tom (Cathy) Hilbert; grandchild­ren, Matt (Beth) Hilbert, Brittany (Gabe) Stout, Pastor Scott (Haley) Hilbert, Megan Nash, Aaron (Carmen) Hilbert, Lauren Hilbert, Jason (Hannah) Van Gundy, Jeffrey Van Gundy, Joe Van

Gundy; great grandchild­ren, Lily, Mia and Jackson Hilbert, Barrett and Brantley Stout, Nora Nash, Michael, Maya, Maverick and Malachi Hilbert. The family will receive friends 6-8PM Friday at Ferguson Funeral Home, 202 E. Main St, Plain City, Ohio 43064. Private graveside services will be held Saturday with grandson Pastor Scott Hilbert officiatin­g. Social distancing and wearing masks will be practiced at all times.
