Columbus police ID homicide victims

Columbus police have identified the victims of two recent homicides in North Linden.

Ticardo Lawayne Williams, 47, had been dead for up to 24 hours before officers discovered his body around 3:45 p.m. Saturday inside the residence in the 2800 block of Cleveland Avenue, police said.

Officers had been called to the apartment for a well-being check and found Williams’ body with a gunshot wound.

The front door of the second-floor apartment was kicked in and had bullet holes when officers arrived at the apartment, according to Columbus police. Police said there were also bullet holes found in the ceiling and walls of the unit.

Police have not released informatio­n about a suspect in Williams’ death, which is the 56th homicide committed this year in Columbus.

On Wednesday, police also identified 32-year-old Sade Payne, of Olde Towne East, as the city’s 54th homicide victim.

A neighbor called police around 5:20 a.m. April 8 to report a woman was screaming for help at a bus stop on the 3600 block of Maize Road.

Payne, who was found shot and partially clothed, was rushed to Ohiohealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where she died a short time later.

Police have not released any informatio­n about possible suspects in the case.
