Lewis, Cathy
Cathy Hill Lewis, June 3, 1950 - March 27, 2021.
Cathy Hill Lewis, 70, passed away peacefully at home on the evening of
March 27, her husband at her side following a most courageous 5 year battle with thyroid cancer. Born in
Columbus, Ohio to parents
Jean and Delton Hill and following her education, she spent a very successful career spanning 30 years in human resources at the
Ohio Department of Health.
We don’t know whether
Cathy herself realized how revered she was by all those who knew her. Really smart and very sensible she was a bastion of wise counsel and an encyclopedia of useful info she generously shared with her friends and acquaintances alike. If you were in serious trouble, she was the one who would open the door wide and invite you in (not the one who would pretend they weren’t home). She was undeniably special in her understanding, and compassion for others, particularly “strays”, or people who seemed a little odd.
She was a great friend, a wonderful daughter and a really swell sibling. And a great life partner for her husband, Bob, his North
Star for the past 39 years.
Cathy’s emotional intelligence was off the charts and she used that gift benevolently to aid a lot of us. She is irreplaceable and will be more than missed.
Survived by her mother,
Jean; husband, Bob; brothers, Brad (Debbie) and John (Gail); 5 nieces and nephews; and 6 grand nieces and nephews. A celebration of life is planned for later in the year in Sarasota,
Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
Sarasota Memorial Healthcare
Foundation, Inc., (941917-1286) and/or Tidewell
Hospice, 5955 Rand Rd,
Sarasota, FL 34238.
