Moorhead Jr., Ernest

1933 - 2021

-

Ernest Vincent Moorhead, Jr., 88, of Pataskala, passed away quietly at home on Sunday, 22 August, 2021 after a long illness. Born at home on 14 May 1933 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, he was the son of the late Ernest V., Sr., and Orpha M. Moorhead of Pataskala. Ernie graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1951, fathered four children, and worked as a local farmer until retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Pataskala United Methodist Church, a volunteer who helped to develop the local little league fields, and an active member, and former president of the local chapter of Sertoma. Ernie loved to travel, taking his family on camping trips across the USA and after retirement, spending winters in Florida with his wife, Jean. They are now rejoined on “an awfully big adventure.” Ernie was predeceased by his wife Jean of 65 years, and is survived by son, Daryl of Toledo; daughter, Connie Shaw and husband, Robert of Yorktown, Va.; daughter, Linda Moorhead Manganaro and husband, John of Pataskala; son, Michael and wife, Dorothy of Granville; 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Mahorney of Coolville, Ohio; sister, Joyce Snyder of St. Jo, Missouri; and sister, Roberta Munding and husband, Donald of Cooper, Texas; numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Family was important to Mr. Moorhead. Those who knew Ernie are aware that he was quick to be vaccinated from Covid, and that he would be greatly saddened if any of his family or friends became ill as a result of attendance at his funeral. Although family members will not be receiving, friends and family are invited to pay last respects in person, Wednesday, August 25, 2021 from 4-8PM at the Kauber-fraley Funeral Home, 289 S Main St, Pataskala. In response to the realities of the continuing pandemic, and following CDC recommendations, indoor masking is required and social distancing is strongly recommended. There will be no in-person funeral service, but a video capture of a brief, private graveside sermon will be posted on-line. A link will be provided at a later date. The family thanks you for your understanding as we all navigate through this sad event during these difficult times.
