Fischer, Marilyn Celeste
Marilyn Celeste Fischer was born on March 18, 1932 in Chicago, to Marjorie (Potter) and Clarence Schweigert. Marilyn is predeceased by her parents and brother Robert Fischer, and her husband Ken. Marilyn married the love of her life, Kenneth Carl Fischer, on September 2, 1955. Marilyn was known by all as a vivacious, inquisitive, highly caring individual. She graduated from Central Diablo Valley College in 1967 with an AD in Dental Hygiene, Central Michigan University in 1975 with a BS, and Tulsa Junior College in 1983 with an AD in Nursing. She taught dental hygiene and later worked as a registered nurse in Tulsa and Granville, Ohio. Marilyn had a natural curiosity to learn new things and travelled throughout the U.S. and Europe with her husband. Ken and Marilyn enjoyed many good years living in Fresno, Concord, Midland, Tulsa and Granville Ohio, before retiring in Dubois, Wyoming, and in 2006, moving to Delaware, Ohio. Marilyn resided at Willowbrook Christian Community and was well cared for in recent months as she struggled with health issues. Marilyn was a passionate advocate for the rights of mentally ill individuals and in 1987, was awarded The National Mental Health Association Volunteer of the Year award. Marilyn lived a full and gracious life and will be dearly remembered by her surviving children, Kenneth Fischer and Catherine Fischer, her daughter-inlaw, Holly; and her beloved grandchildren, Emily, Grace, Carl and Sam Fischer.
