Richard Michael Gehring, age 73, of Seton Square Retirement Community in Columbus, Ohio, died Monday, September 27, 2021 at Grant Medical Hospital, where after having major surgery succumb to pneumonia. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Vietnam Veteran of that he was most proud. He was a Staff Sergeant and specialize­d in Metallurgi­st where he used his knowledge and after his enlistment went to work for

TRW in Cleveland, Ohio.

Later on in life, when he moved back to the Columbus area he became a truck driver then retired from Schneider Trucking. He was very active at the retirement center, helped plan many charity events, and played lots of Euchre. He liked to play golf, watch golf on the TV, and any type of betting at Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs. Mike’s favorite time of year was Christmas, he loved the family gatherings at his sister Kathy and Sue’s house. Mike loved all his sisters and brother but, had a special bond with his sister Sue, they were best buds! He was a 1966 graduate of St. Mary’s High School in German Village. He will be deeply missed by his friends and staff at Seton Square. He was born March 1, 1948 in Franklin County to the late Richard Victor Gehring and Clarold Jane Davis Gehring Huegely. He is survived by his sister, Victoria (Lowell) Hammond; sister, Carolyn Sue Gehring; brother, David (Karoline) Gehring, all from Columbus, Ohio; and sister, Katherine (Danny) Fannin of Marysville, Ohio. He is predecease­d by his sister Karen (Paul) Fisher of Columbus, Ohio. He is survived by his daughters, Theresa (Edward) Heller of Texas, Anne Lothes, Kathleen (Jeremiah) Brown; and his son, Richard (Megan) Gehring, all from Johnstown, Ohio; his grandchild­ren, Alec (Jennifer) Lucas, Allyson, Dakota, Conner, Ethan, Lucy, Lilian, Scarlett, Lydia, Gavin; and a great granddaugh­ter, Eleanor. The family will receive friends 2-6pm Friday, October 1, 2021 at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI FUNERAL HOME, 1068 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio, where moments of remembranc­e (service) will be held at 5pm.
