High Bank Distillery coming to Gahanna
High Bank Distillery Co.’s cup runneth over. Owners of the Grandview Heights distillery and restaurant plan to open a second location in the spring at 1379 E. Johnstown Road in Gahanna.
It will feature 7,500 square feet including a fullservice bar and restaurant, barrel storage, an expansive outdoor patio and retail store.
The building has the outward appearance of a barn, with a red roof and white paneled walls.
The interior will exude the industrial aesthetic common in Greater Columbus brewpubs, with steel paneled walls and sleek tables and chairs bathed in dark and gray colors, according to renderings the distillery included in a news release.
Sales from the Grandview Heights distillery have steadily grown over the past several years, and that growth provided the confidence to add a second restaurant and bar, co-founder Jordan Helman said.
“Even with COVID we felt like we were able to grow our customer base a little bit,” he said.
The current restaurant on Goodale Boulevard has an open concept that allows for plenty of social distancing, and the distillery sold hand sanitizer when restaurants and bars were shut down for two months last year and it had few buyers for its liquor.
Helman said the new Gahanna facility reflects the company’s goal of expanding both its liquor sales and its bar/restaurant businesses.
High Bank is still working out the details, but the upcoming restaurant and bar will have a menu similar to the Goodale Boulevard location, which sells upscale bar food like sandwiches, burgers, and chicken wings.
But the two restaurants won’t be identical, Hel
