Two eateries coming to University Square
Two restaurants are coming to the new University Square development across from Ohio State University's campus.
Lemonshark Poke & Makai Grill and Roots Natural Kitchen are scheduled to open in the next few months in University Square, on North High Street between 15th and 16th avenues across from the Wexner Center for the Arts.
The development already includes office space and a Bubbles Tea and Juice Company. Another tenant, Barrio Tacos, was previously announced for the development, along with WOSU'S new headquarters.
Roots is a fast casual establishment that serves salads and grain bowls. This will be the Virginia-based chain's first Ohio location.
Lemonshark & Makai Grill is a Hawaiian-themed restaurant that serves seafood and hibachi-style grilled meats. This will be the chain's second Columbus location, following one at Easton Town Center. The eatery will also offer a full bar and serve craft cocktails.
Campus Partners, Ohio State's development arm, announced the two upcoming restaurants and the University Square name in a news release Thursday.
When completed, University Square will include up to six buildings and a 9000-square-foot plaza, which has opened.
“The purpose of this plaza is to serve as an informal living room with a distinct energy,” Campus Partners President Amanda Hoffsis said in the news release.
Three buildings have been completed in University Plaza: two office buildings with ground-floor retail, and WOSU'S new building.
Construction has not started on the three remaining buildings planned for University Square: a 150,000-squarefoot office and retail building on the northeast corner of North High and 14th Avenue; a hotel on the northeast corner of Pearl Alley and 15th Avenue; and a parking garage behind the hotel on 15th Avenue. pcooley@dispatch.com @Patrickacooley
