h Anthony Doerr: The Pulitzer Prizewinning author of “All the Light We Cannot See” will talk about his new book, “Cloud Cuckoo Land,” with author Jess Walter in a virtual event at 7 p.m. Oct. 12. The online conversation is presented by Gramercy Books along with bookstores in Raleigh, North Carolina., and Evanston, Illinois. Tickets cost $33 and include a copy of Doerr’s new book. h Ohio Horror Writers Association: Members will read spooky, twisted tales during an in-person and online event at 7 p.m. Oct. 13, presented by the Bexley Public Library, 2411 E. Main St., Bexley. The reading will be followed by a question-and-answer period. Halloween costumes are encouraged. The event is free. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link. Tiffany Mcdaniel, Aimee Nezhukumatathil, Carter Sickels, Thrity Umrigar, Hagan Faye Whiteleather and Jacqueline Woodson: The authors, all winners of the 2021 Ohioana Awards, will appear in the virtual awards presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14. Two authors of new books for middle-grade readers will appear in a free, online book discussion from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, presented by Cover to Cover Books for Young Readers. Green Myers book, “A Bird Will Soar,” is about a bird-loving autistic child and Venkatraman’s “Born Behind Bars” concerns a boy in Chennai, India, who has been released after spending his whole life in jail with his mother.
