OSU looks to continue perfect start
The Ohio State women's basketball team is 4-0 and gearing up for a game Saturday against 3-2 Cincinnati.
The Buckeyes are coming off a record-setting 110-58 win against Bellarmine (0-4) on Tuesday, in which OSU scored 70 points before the intermission, surpassing the previous Big Ten mark for points scored in a half by one. (Minnesota had 69 in the second half of a game against Purdue Fort Wayne in 2002, and Wisconsin posted 69 in the second half of a 1982 game with Bradley.)
Jacy Sheldon led Ohio State with 31 points and Taylor Mikesell continued her streak of making at least four threepointers. She has done so in all four games the Buckeyes have played this year. Mikesell had 18 points overall and was 4-for-6 from behind the arc.
Tip time for Saturday's game against the Bearcats is 6 p.m. at the Covelli Center.
"Cincinnati has a really good team – athletic, talented, well-coached," Buckeyes coach Kevin Mcguff said. "That will be a challenge for us. We have to continue to improve. I think our defense and rebounding has to keep getting better."
