Columbus police post identification of victim in Northeast Side shooting
Columbus police took to social media Sunday morning and identified the second victim of two Friday night homicides within 20 minutes of each other as Kameron Guishard.
Police responded at 10:18 p.m. to a call of a shooting on the 2300 block of Century Drive, between Minnesota and Myrtle avenues, on the city's Northeast Side.
Officers found the 20-year-old Guishard, also known as "Kam Nutty," with gunshot wounds. The public flyer seeking additional information about
the homicide said Guishard was shot at 10 p.m., which conflicts with two calls placed within seconds of each other to 911 dispatch at 10:18 p.m.
In an earlier release that did not officially identify Guishard except by his initials, detectives had said that there was a second, 20-year-old female victim but did not indicate whether or not she was injured. Detectives did say a civilian was trying to render aid when responding officers joined in to help. Medics transported Guishard to Ohiohealth Riverside Methodist Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:05 p.m.
Police have released no information on any potential suspects.
About twenty minutes after Guishard
was shot, police were dispatched about 10:40 p.m. to a shooting in the 300 block of East 12th Avenue, east of North 4th Street near the University Commons apartments in the University District. The victim, Fentahun G. Mengistu, 38, had been transported by private vehicle to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m., police said.
