Nodes, Alice
1929 - 2021
Alice Nodes (Roloson), age 92, passed away on
December 20, 2021 in
Oceanside, California. She was born on September 8, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Alvin and Betty
Roloson. She is preceded in death by her husband
David Nodes. She is survived by her children, Becky (Jim) Hutchins, Tom (Leah),
Dwight, Scott, and Nancy (Gary) Conkel; grandchildren, David, Caroline, Sean,
Haley, Carly, Cory; and one great grandchild; Adison; sisters, Jean Brenon and
Esther Messerknecht; many nieces and nephews. Alice was raised in Westerville,
Ohio, 4th of 7 kids. She graduated from WHS in 1947 where she met her husband, David Nodes.
They were married in October
1949 in the Central
College Presbyterian Chapel.
She attended OSU. She raised 5 children. She was very involved in Volunteer activities; Campfire Girls
Leader, a PTA President,
President of the Westerville
Bowling League (Rainbow
League), member of CCL, awarded Mrs. Westerville in 1966, among others.
Alice worked for Lazarus - Gift Wrap and then the
Westerville Public Library.
While working, she went back to school and earned an Associates degree from
Ou-lancaster. Alice retired in 1987. She and David moved to San Diego (Ocean
Beach) where they both volunteered at Old Town
State Park. She dressed in period attire and gave cooking demonstrations to many school groups and visitors. Alice also volunteered at the Ocean Beach
Library and was an active member in their Retired
Friends group. Alice was a kind, giving person who befriended anyone she met. Her hobbies were loving her grandchildren, sending cards & gifts to people, walking, listening to books (Harry Potter was a favorite) and watching old tv shows on DVD. Alice was a long time member of Central College Presbyterian
Church (Westerville) and Point Loma Community
Presbyterian Church (San
Diego). In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Westerville Public
Library, Friends of Ocean
Beach Library (San Diego) or a Library of your choice.
The family will receive friends on January 14, 5-7pm at Moreland Funeral
Home, 55 E Schrock Rd.
Funeral services will be
Jan. 15, 10am at the
Central College Presbyterian
Chapel, 975 S Sunbury
Rd., with burial at Blendon
