Juanita Mae Johnson, age 94, passed away January 10 at Wesley Glen Retirement Center. Juanita was born in Mansfield, OH to Guy and Vivian (Adams) Bynum. She was a very loving mother, grandmothe­r and great-grandmothe­r. Juanita was a woman of many talents; an Army military wife for more than 20 years at various bases in the United States as well as in Japan and France. In that time, she had become

the first African-american Girl Scout leader of central

Ohio and at the various military bases, a very talented artist using those abilities for Center Stage Players theater sets. She also assisted the bus transport of disabled people and a volunteer teacher aid in the Columbus Schools system. She helped raise seven beautiful children. Juanita is survived by her children, Bruce (Debra), Diane (Martin) Norman, Duane (Tammy), Barry, Gregory (Amanda), and Guy; sisters, Eileen Lopez, Reita Smith; 11 grandchild­ren; 25 great-grandchild­ren; as well as many families and friends. Preceded in death her loving husband Major Thomas E. Johnson (ret), daughter Judith (Darrell) Collins and sister Betty Lou Bray. Caring Cremation has taken place by Schoedinge­r Funeral and Cremation Services and due to the

present COVID pandemic,

a future memorial service is being planned. The family would like to thank
