Marquart, Thomas “Tom” William

Thomas “Tom” William Marquart, age 71, passed away January 14, 2022. Born in Sandusky, Ohio to Werner “Bud” Marquart and Lola “Peg” Marquart on June 26, 1950, Tom graduated from Perkins High School in Sandusky, Ohio. He went on to complete his bachelor’s degree in aeronautical engineering from The Ohio State University. Nearly 42 years ago, Tom married the love of his life, Mindy “Meena” Marquart. Tom and Mindy raised their family in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Tom was a dedicated engineer for Jeffrey Mining Company, United Mcgill, and Telesis Technologies, from which he retired in 2013. Tom was also a loving father to his three daughters and he enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with his grandchildren. Central to Tom’s character was seeing the best in others. By those who loved him, Tom was considered humble, compassionate, and steady. Tom’s passion for The Ohio State Buckeyes was unrivaled. Over many years, he especially enjoyed traveling to and attending Ohio State Buckeye football games. Tom’s Ohio State Buckeye football experience was, more often than not, flavored by his three daughter’s shenanigans and intense fandom learned from their father. A close second to his love for the Buckeyes was traveling extensively with his wife and listening to Jerry Jeff Walker, Jimmy Buffett, and Bob Marley. Over the years, Tom made wonderful memories socializing with family, dear friends, and his daughters’ friends who loved spending time at the Marquart house. A man of faith, Tom served and attended Messiah Lutheran Church with his family for decades. In addition to his wife, Tom was survived by three daughters, Jennifer (Kevin) White, Abby (Jeb) Braden, and Laurie Marquart (Matthew Wolf); grandchildren, Miles Talbot and Hank, Cecilia, Zach, and Nico Braden; his mother, Lola Marquart; and brother, Dennis (Joyce) Marquart. Tom is preceded in death by his father Bud Marquart, and beloved granddaughter Alaina Braden. Visitation will be held from 10-11am on Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, immediately followed by a memorial service at 11am.
